Service Description

This course is an exciting collaboration between Inspired Children and Menphys SOS to create a unique training experience for anyone working with disabled children. Course overview This practical course combines the extensive experience of Menphys SOS with the inspirational delivery and innovative practical activities of Inspired Children. The result is a brand new course with a unique perspective on the barriers facing disabled children and how we can overcome these barriers in our childcare settings. The course promotes inclusion as embedded good practice from day one rather than as an afterthought and inspires settings to create inclusive opportunities for all their children both disabled and non-disabled. Linked to the EYFS overarching principles throughout as well as Hear by Right and Safeguarding this course helps settings create enabling and empowering environments for all their children. Tutor Experience Ben Kingston-Hughes has managed inclusive projects across the UK used as examples of good practice by Big Lottery and Play England and has spoken at regional and national conferences about his experiences working with disabled children. Lyn Edwards is the service manager for Menphys Special Outreach Service and has worked with disabled children and families for the charity for 18 years. She is responsible for developing disability awareness training including a National Open College Network accredited course for early years providers and has extensive practical experience working with disabled children of all ages.
