The EYFS requires all Early Years Settings to observe and assess children’s progress regularly.
Observation means noticing what children say and understand and what they can do. Assessment means reflecting on the information from an observation and thinking about a child’s learning. How they are doing? What experiences might be offered next to help a child move forward?
By the end of the session practitioners will be able to:
- Develop a systematic approach to using observational assessment to plan next steps in children’s developmental progress.
- Moderate judgments based on observational evidence
- Highlight enhancements in the continuous provision
